Staff employees of UCSF in the fall of 2001 had the opportunity to “lead the way” in defining and enhancing the work-life at our campus by providing honest, open, and confidential opinions about the organization as a whole, departments or work units, supervisors, and jobs. This opportunity is being repeated in October 2003. The details below provide an historical perspective of the 2001 survey process and results.
These employee opinion surveys are confidentially tabulated by Morehead Associates, an external employee survey agency, and are specially designed to ensure that all opinions, both positive and negative, are conveyed to senior managment to effect changes, enhance our successes, and support our institution’s diverse cultures in positive directions.
The response to UCSF’s first organization-wide Staff Opinion Survey, administered in October of 2001, was remarkable. Thanks to the energetic efforts of over 100 Survey Ambassadors and the enthusiastic support of UCSF leadership, the response rate exceeded 60%. Since that time, efforts have been made to build on this survey success by taking the following key steps:
- Review and understand the survey results
- Communicate the results broadly across the campus
- Identify key issues for focused improvement
- Develop action plans to drive positive change
